Maybe one day…
I’ve always wanted to travel and discover different places, but more than that I wish to learn and experience something that you don’t find in tourist guides. I want to know how it feels to live in a different place. More specifically, living in a place it snows.
All of the sudden, I’ve been dreaming with the idea of living in a place where winter means snow. We are in mid-winter, and my Instagram feed still has a lot of photos in the snow. And since I don’t live in a city where it snows, it’s almost a torment to see. I’ve never been so annoyed by having blue sky for several days like today. It’s great to have good weather, but I want a proper winter with chilly mornings, rain, snow…
I’ve understood, a few years ago, the beauty of a city isn’t in the architecture or the historical places rather it’s in the way of living. It’s in the day-to-day life, in the weather, the traditions, and the culture. Honestly, I don’t know anything about Finland or Norway I don’t remember any landmarks or famous buildings. But I do know that I want to live there one day. In fact, I would like to live in almost every northern country in Europe, even for a few months.
I want to know what it feels like to wake up with snow everywhere, sipping a hot chocolate while watching the snow falling. I want to know how it feels to see the sun up in the sky while is already night time. Walking around town while little snowflakes are falling. Seeing the roofs covered with a layer of snow. The trees creating little patches free of snow underneath them, with small flowers popping out. The sill of the window barely able to hold the snow. It should be freezing and at the same time a whimsical view that some people are fortunate to have year after year.
For sure it’s in my bucket list to live in a place like this for a month, six or even a whole year, where I can wake up and delight myself with the floor covered in snow, while I eat my breakfast by the warmth of the fire. So maybe one day, I’ll be able to accomplish my wish.
