Mosta Anticipated Releases of 2018 (January-March)

With the New Year also comes new releases and new books that make you jump and scream with excitement. But there is always one problem. As the time passes by, new books came out that instantaneously go to our most wanted list that you don’t even know were coming out later this year. So instead of saying “here, these are my most anticipated reads so far” I rather divide it into 4 different posts for each trimester of the year. I even thought of been like “most anticipated reads of winter” or spring, but the seasons don’t match the start of a new calendar and I would have to talk about books that have already come out last year.

Bottom line, I will talk you through my most anticipated books (and a few honourable mentions) with the release date from January to March. This is actually a little frustrating since there is at least one book that is on my radar and it’s only out for the second trimester of the year – so I’ll speak about it on my next post.

January

A few of these books have already come out earlier this month but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t excited about them. The first I need to talk about is Meet Cute. This is a collection of short stories from various YA authors that everyone is raving about. I don’t even remember what exactly made me want to read this book. The last time I read something similar to this (Let It Snow) I wasn’t the biggest fan of how inconsistent the book turns out to be. You might love the writing style of one author and on the next, you can hate it. Although, having a book filled with cute little romantic stories should be great to escape the real world for a moment.

Meet Cute, various authors – publication date: 2nd January

Up next is You’ll Miss Me When I’m Gone. I was taking an Epic Reads quiz when this book popped up as allegedly should be my next read. I often don’t believe in quizzes to tell me what I should do next, but they are fun to take. Despite everything, the cover is beautiful which helped to spark my curiosity for this book. We follow around two very ambitious twin sisters that have so little in common. One wants to become a viola soloist and the other a surgeon, and both are determined to succeed until a degenerative disease gets in the way of one of the siblings. I’ve been meaning to read a story like this for a few months. I love a happy ending and fluffy romances don’t bother me at all, but sometimes is good to have that punch in the stomach, to read something tragic, heartbreaking, and that possibly will not end well.

You’ll Miss Me When I’m Gone, Rachel Lynn Solomon – publication date: 2nd January

I can’t control myself when I see a pretty cover and when the inside interests me I get even more excited. Busted sound that type of story when a girl meets boy they fall in love for each other but there are so many lies and lack of trust between them that prevent them to be together, but it all ends well. The main character Marisa accidentally caught her best friend’s boyfriend with other girl and soon she becomes a snoop for hire. The girl you go to talk when you want to know if you’re boyfriend is cheating on you, and from there on things get tricky.

Busted, Gina Ciocca – publication date: 2nd January

I never get tired to say this, I adore reading diaries, letters or any other type of messages between characters in books. It’s kind of a story within a story that shows us a little more of a character. So when I found This is Not a Love Letter I got interested. It starts off with a couple while they are trying to figure out how they are going to do now they are going to university and how it will affect the relationship until the boy vanishes. No one knows where he is and no one seems to care about except his girlfriend. Since they started dating he has written every Friday a love letter for her and this time she decided to write one for him. Although instead of a love letter she writes down everything that is happening while he is missing.

This is Not a Love Letter, Kim Purcell – publication date: 30th January

This Love Story Will Self-Destruct, Leslie Cohen – publication date: 23rd January

February

On a wimp or better yet on a hunger strike, I added this next book to my list. The Saturday Night Supper Club is about a chef that sees her restaurant been taking away by a smear campaign. In order to have her life back, she has to try and work with the same person that took away her dinner. Together they came up with the idea of The Saturday Night Supper Club, an exclusive pop-up dinner party for the most influential people from the city, hoping it helps to restore her image as a chef.

The Saturday Night Supper Club, Carla Laureano – publication date: 6th February

I need to read more sci-fi and I’m also carving some dystopian in my life so Your One & Only can be the one. The story follows the only human on Earth after a plague kills them all. Clones were created to ensure the existence of the human race. They have perfected themselves and then created a human, Jack. When he meets a clone that actually doesn’t feel like the other’s clones, they grew closer to each other but this relation is also a danger to their lives.

Your One & Only, Adrianne Finlay – publication date: 6th February

I’m naturally drawn to mystery novels, I can’t help it. The expectation of finding out the truth can keep me awake reading for hours. Although I feel Sunburn is different. A couple meet in a small town and fall madly in love with each other. They keep dangerous secrets from each other and then someone dies. I have no idea what to expect from this book. A happy ending? A sad one? Or will it have twists and turns that no one is expecting? I need to discover what happened in that small town and what these two are hidden that can be so dangerous.

Sunburn, Laura Lippman – publication date: 20th February

I basically can be sold out on every romance in the book. I like to read about epic and not-so-epic love stories, but on this book, the relationship growth is what I want to see. Forget You, Ethan is a story of enemies to friends to lovers. As kids, they never got along and they took the war to high school when they swear never talk to each other ever again. Suddenly a couple of years later, she appears at his door asking for a place to stay temporary. And then he realises that things between them had changed.

Forget You, Ethan, Whitney G. – publication date: 28th February

March

I thought that no book would get between me and the second book of Carve The Mark series, turns out there is one, and the release of the Kindle version is coming soon. I’ve talked about it in my last post, Relight My Fire is the sequel to The List by Joanna Bolouri. If you want to know more go read my review. Bottom line, the book was supposed to be stand-alone, but since the story is so captivating, funny and sexy everyone was asking for more adventures. And now after 5 years, we can enjoy a bit more of Phoebe’s personality and humour.

Update: I already read this book and it was amazing. Click here to read my full review.

Relight My Fire, Joanna Bolouri – publication date: 1st March

I want to travel more and while I’m broke, books are the best way. I’ve been to Florence (Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch) and to Canada (Winter Wonderland by Belinda Jones), now is time to go to Japan. Rainbirds is a mystery thriller set in Akakawa about a boy who’s trying to discover what actually happens that lead to his sister’s death. In the meantime, he get’s to know who his sister really was and why she moved out from Tokyo to this small town.

Rainbirds, Clarissa Goenawan – publication date: 6th March

When life doesn’t go your way, fake it! Finding Felicity is about a girl that doesn’t fit in. She isn’t good at making friends and with her mother recent divorce, she sees herself in a new town with no friends and no idea what to do. Then she comes up with a whole new life for herself based on characters from an old show she discovered online. When she is off to University and ready to start fresh once again, her mother discovers her false life and force her to make real friends or going back home and have therapy.

Finding Felicity, Stacey Kade – publication date: 20th March

This is the second novel surrounding a kitchen that is on this list. Maybe I was hungry or I’ve discovered a new type of book I like. Hot Mess is precisely what the title says it is, a hot mess. Allie is in a relationship with a recovering drug addict that is also a very talented chef. She is decided to change him for better and even invest her life savings in his future. But addicts lie and she is left alone with a restaurant that has to open soon. Now she has to take the matter into her own hands to get her life back together and find someone that actually loves her.

Hot Mess, Emily Belden – publication date: 20th March

Honourable Mentions
